Introducing Sense Path

Hello everyone, we hope you had a great summer and the first few weeks back of the academic year are going as smoothly as possible.

A little bit of history

Around 2 years ago Beth approached Nick (her long suffering brother) to ask for his help to build an online sensory profiling tool to be used to support the training she was delivering, and over this time over 800 of you have used the Making Sense tool to help profile the children you are working with. The feedback we have received has been amazing - it makes us really proud to feel that we’ve been able to have a positive impact on your work and also the experiences of those children.

During this time, several themes came up when we heard from those using the app the most:

  • The value the sensory profiling tool alone gave was huge
  • You wanted more - especially when it came to putting the results of the profiling into action
  • You wanted to share the app with others in the field, but at the time it was limited to only those who had completed the training

Sense Path

Over the summer we came together and discussed how we could grow the app, what new features we could put in place, and how we could make it accessible to all. We then put a lot of time and work into making these things a reality. The result of this work is Sense Path, a tool built around 3 pillars - AssessmentGuidance, and Evidence.

With Sense Path, you still get the same sensory profiling tool, but lots more:

  • Bespoke Sensory Plans instantly generated based on the results of each assessment, with different lengths of plan depending on the time you have available. Each plan can be tweaked if activities are not suitable, and each activity has been written by Beth with full explainers and instructions available.
  • Recommended environmental adjustments based on the needs of the child, and the ability to record the adjustments made in order to evidence interventions made
  • Multiple different types of auto generated Sensory Circuits based on time available and intent (alerting, calming, and balanced)
  • An app that is available to all, with a free short course on SPD for those who haven’t taken the full training (or need a refresher!)
  • An improved interface to make it easier to manage profiles and access key information

In addition to this, we have a long list of other features we would like to bring to the app to further improve its value based on the feedback shared by our existing users (and we want to hear more, so please share any feature you’d love to see!).

We’re really proud of what we have built and we’re so excited for you all to try the new app and let us know what you think 🙂

We are running a number of sessions for a demo of the tool. If you’d like to jump on a call and have us take you through a demo of all the new features and functionality, just book some time with us here.

Pricing

In order to be able to continue to grow the app and increase the value it provides, we need to be able to spend time on it. This means that the app will no longer be free to use for unlimited profiles, but we have spent a lot of time considering a pricing structure that is based entirely on the value you get out of Sense Path.

  • Pricing is based purely on the number of profiles you need. We will not gate any features or charge more for certain functionality.
  • The price tiers work out at £3 per child profile per month (or £30 per child profile per year if you sign up for an annual plan), however for the first year we are going to apply a 33% discount automatically.
  • This means if you have 25 child profiles on the app the first year’s cost will be £500.
  • We want to make the app accessible to all, which includes parents and carers, so for up to 2 child profiles the app remains completely free
  • The app will be completely free and unrestricted to use for everyone until 1st November 2024 so you have plenty of time to assess the value and decide if you want to move forward with a paid plan
  • We are happy to discuss school wide licenses where needed - if this is something you would like to discuss let’s talk!
  • If you choose not to move to a paid plan, you will not lose your data - Once over your profile limit you will not be able to add new profiles, but all of your existing profiles and assessments will remain.

What’s next?

You can start using the new app right now - just head to https://app.sensepath.org/login/ and log in with your existing details.

All of your profiles will already be there and you can start utilising Sensory Plans and see Environmental Adjustments for those children straight away.

In the next few days, the old app URLs (app.makingsenseaward.co.uk or hive.bsensory.org) will automatically forward to the new app.

We’re so excited to hear your feedback, and finally we want to say a huge thank you for being on this journey with us.
